Dr. Richards: One of the reasons I wrote the book

This book was written not only for the medical profession, but also to the public in general. Yes, because everyone, eventually, from birth to the end of life needs some kind of medical attention. So it is always necessary to improve the interaction between the physician and his/her patient. Everyone who faces a health problem, or thinks he has a health problem, experiences some degree of insecurity about the nature & outcome of the illness. In doing so, it is mandatory that the physicians concentrate their efforts, first, in seeing their patients as HUMAN BEINGS with needs, wishes, with physical and / or emotional difficulties to be resolved, healed or just alleviated. The doctor who is capable to express EMPATHY toward patients is more successful in resolving their problems than those who are more formals & distant.
